A charming Quaker-built cottage in Buck Hill Falls, Pennsylvania was given new life, all while respecting its origins.
Butcher Block Kitchen
The kitchen features bead-board white cabinetry with butcher block countertops, which are easy to maintain and reflect the pastoral setting. Instead of lower cabinetry doors, gingham panels were installed to introduce pattern and softness.
Kitchen Open Shelving
Open shelving in the kitchen is supported by twig-themed corbels. Everything is easy to locate in this highly functional space.
Kitchen View at Range
The wood paneling in the kitchen has been painted cream to coordinate with matching paneled cabinetry.
The informal seating area off the kitchen features an upholstered wing-backed bench in brown and white gingham. The windows are dressed with flat Roman shades in a lovely fern print with matching gingham banding.
The kitchen utensils are corralled in mason jars, which are then contained within an easy to carry caddy.
The dining room host chairs and window treatments are fabricated in a modern woodsy print. In addition, the branch chandelier by Wish Designs and rustic La Lune dining chairs bring a little bit of the outdoors in.
Airy Green Gathering Space
This informal living room features vibrant spring green walls, with chairs and window treatments in a floral pattern in the same hue. A wicker chest and reclaimed wood coffee table provide warmth and patina, while the deep English arm sofa provides a luxurious spot for afternoon naps.
The porch features cozy furniture by La Lune Collection. The coffee table looks like twigs that have been gathered locally. The exterior cedar shakes are painted a pleasing green.
One of the luxuries of mild summers is sleeping outdoors in this breezy screened porch. A pair of antique metal beds feature upholstered mattresses and quilted coverlets.
Girls Room Fit for a Princess
The girl’s room features an antique four poster bed with lace canopy. A ruffled bedskirt and London shades are fabricated in a matching toile, and a cozy little chair an ottoman are upholstered in a coordinating check. An antique secretary provides a small spot to write summer correspondence.
A close up view of the bed shows a custom monogram on the upholstered headboard and matching monogrammed scalloped bedding. Pivoting brass wall sconces provide reading light over antique tables.
Girls Room Chest
A rustic painted chest provides ample clothing storage, and an original corner sink provides a convenient spot to wash your hands, or brush your teeth before bed. The London shades include a white tassel trim that echo the detail on the bed canopy. A wool area rug with a custom border provides warmth and softness underfoot.
Americana Boys Room
In the boy’s room the original wood paneling has been restored in its original finish. A blue metal bed frame is complimented with a checkered bedskirt and drapery panels. An American flag and other red accents round out the space.
Boys Bedroom 2
The bedding features a blue and white ticking stripe, which is also incorporated in the Roman shades, and added to the hem of the drapery panels. A bright red ceramic lamp, framed American flag, and quilted throw pillow add some red to the mix.
The nightstand in the boys room features a few keepsakes.
The Great Room features a pair of swoop-arm sofas in a neutral fabric and a pair of dark chocolate leather wingback chairs. The wall paneling extends three quarters up the walls, above which wall sconces provide illumination. The windows are dressed in relaxed Roman shades, with drapery panels on the far ends in a fun Quadrille pattern.
Great Room with Original Stone Fireplace
The Great Room features a beautiful original stone fireplace.
Great Room Chaise Lounge
The seating in the Great Room features a pair of chaises for lounging by the fireplace. Floor lamps with oversized shades provide task lighting.
